Itinerary
Day 1 – Myrtle Beach, SC – Brookgreen Gardens’ Night of a Thousand Candles
Arrive in Myrtle Beach, SC today where you enjoy a two night stay at a oceanfront hotel.
Tonight features a Lowcountry dinner at Brookgreen Gardens with lots of Southern favorites. Dinner is followed by Brookgreen Gardens’ Nights of a Thousand Candles (Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday). See Brookgreen Gardens come to life amid the soft glow of more than 4,500 hand-lit candles and countless sparkling lights. Walk the paths with a warm cup of cider, hear the sounds of holiday music, carolers singing, and celebrate the season. (D)
Day 2 – Free Morning – Barefoot Landing Shopping – Duplin Wine Tasting – Carolina Opry Christmas Show
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a free morning for the beach, shopping or sightseeing on your own. The afternoon will feature free time and lunch on own at Barefoot Landing, your one-stop destination for the ultimate coastal shopping experience. Here, you’ll discover a delightful mix of classic seaside shops and quirky, one-of-a-kind stores. Whether you’re in search of beachwear, surf gear, or simply looking for something unique, this place has it all. There are also plenty of places to grab some lunch: Castano’s Italian Steakhouse, Cafe’ de Paris, Dick’s Last Resort, Flying Fish Public Market & Grill, TBonz Gill & Grill to name a few.
Also included today is a Wine Tasting at the Duplin Winery. Duplin are the makers of America’s favorite Muscadine wine. The tasting allows you to sample up to 10 wines on the tasting sheet and enjoy delicious gourmet crackers and dip. Plus, you get to keep your Duplin wine glass and have a serving of wine afterwards from the tasting sheet.
Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant followed by a performance of the Carolina Opry Christmas Show. The Carolina Opry Christmas Special brings the spirit of Christmas to life with music, comedy and dance. The theater is transformed into a winter wonderland where the magic of the season comes alive. As always, nothing compares to the award-winning costuming and special effects of The Carolina Opry Christmas Special; complete with the nation’s biggest laser light show. (B,D)
Day 3 – Charleston, SC – Old City Market – Christmas Carriage Tour – James Island Festival of Lights
This morning after breakfast at the hotel, depart Myrtle Beach for Charleston, SC. On arrival, enjoy free time and lunch on own at Old City Market. It’s four blocks of open-air buildings where you will encounter a wide assortment of vendors selling high quality products including paintings, pottery, Charleston’s famous sweetgrass baskets, plus both casual and fine dining for lunch.
The afternoon will also include a Horse-Drawn Carriage Tour. Enjoy a festive Christmas experience as you travel through the Historic District.
Then check into your Charleston hotel for a two-night stay and time to freshen up before dinner.
Dinner is included tonight at a local restaurant. End the day with the James Island Festival of Lights. This vibrant light show is one of Charleston’s most cherished holiday events, featuring an estimated two million dazzling lights. Drive along the three-mile display of glimmering lights through the park. The festival features over 750 light displays, including the newly refurbished and rebuilt Cooper River Bridge display. In addition to the driving tour, explore attractions, shopping, dining and more.
You can also visit Winter Wonderland, home of the area’s largest holiday sand sculpture, formed from over 50 tons of sand. Roam through festival shops for merry gifts, official 14-kt gold on brass collector series ornaments, toys, personalized items, decorations and stocking stuffers. Take a ride on the train for an up-close view of the festival, and to see even more light displays. (B,D)
Day 4 – Boone Hall Plantation – The Shops at Charleston Place & Hotel Tour – Dock Street Theatre Christmas Show
This morning, visit Boone Hall Plantation. As the Christmas holidays roll through these giant oaks, Boone Hall comes alive with festivities, decorations, and good ole southern holiday hospitality, that is only befitting America’s Most Photographed plantation.
The plantation mansion and grounds are decorated with beautiful Christmas decorations of every kind. But there’s something special about this plantation home’s holiday attire. Yes…there’s plenty of beautiful Christmas trees in every room of the plantation’s main floor…adorned with a variety of Christmas ornaments and decorations.
Enjoy free time and lunch on own this afternoon in downtown Charleston at The Shops at Charleston Place. An exclusive collection of world-famous stores in the heart of downtown Charleston. The ultimate shopping experience & the finest selections in the city.
You will also want to stop in the lobby of the Charleston Place hotel and experience more than 120 decorated trees adorning the hallways and courtyards, along with a 40-foot tree in the center of Market Street Circle. The holiday train, one of the hotel’s most memorable family traditions, traverses the Grand Lobby with more than 300 feet of track.
Dinner is included this evening at a local restaurant followed by a Christmas show at the Historic Dock Street Theatre. (B,D)
